Hey, I’m Arfah and I’m starting a newsletter!
I’ve been building and working on communities all my life from moderating online community forums to being on the school council to now co-founding Muslamic Makers (a community of Muslim change-makers). For the last year and a half in my day job, I was the community development manager for GDS and cross-government product and delivery communities. I also helped to start the Muslims at GDS employer network too. I’ve aided the development of many communities so I really understand the magic of bringing people together and shaping and sustaining communities. I’m starting an interesting new role around tech talent soon. More on this later!
I am a proud multipotentialite, who from a very young age has been involved in a number of projects. From shaping the regeneration of East London post 2012 Olympics to building resilience in young people as a youth trustee for a charity.
I accidentally co-founded a startup aged 22 that raised funding but eventually failed and I then joined Makers as employee number 13 for 2 years and a half, working on their marketing. All of this catapulted me into the world of tech before the London Tech scene was even a thing. I've witnessed the evolution of this scene and have a super unique perspective. I’m currently a scout for Ada Ventures and always looking for interesting tech for good startups that are after funding.
I’m strong in my identity and super passionate about diversity and inclusion. I’m a 2017 fellow of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust and have been awarded a prestigious fellowship exploring Muslim Women in Technology in USA, UAE, and Pakistan. I vlogged my travels and launched inclusivetechworld.com, a one-stop shop of the best practices that I learned.
Having this super unique, crazy journey has meant I’ve made into a few lists such as trailblazing Muslim Women as part of International Women’s Day campaign, and Emerald Networks 100 top inspiring Muslims. I have also been named as a top 30 London Tech Week Changemaker.
Sign up now so you don’t miss the first issue of my newsletter where I will start to explore all these topics.
In the meantime, tell your friends!
